Potamia
Approximately 9,5 km from the capital of the island, Thassos town (Limenas),
the village of Potamia, built out of local stone and nestled at the foot
of the mountain Ipsarion, and from where you can walk easily along footpaths
right to the summit of the mountain, 1204 meters high. You can visit the
renowned museum of Vagi with its Dionysian statues and sculptures. The
road from Potamia, all the way down to the coast, gives you mountain views,
right to the sea side village of Skala Potamia – on Golden Beach.
Golden Beach
One of the most famous and most beautiful beaches in the whole of Greece,
Golden Beach is a two kilometre stretch forming a deep sandy bay beneath
the mountain. The fine, golden sand dips into the clear clean waters which
have had the Blue Flag award for cleanliness. The beach shelves gently
into the sea, making it safe for bathers of all ages and a full range
of water sports and beach games are available. |
